CNRI member Seva Arogya foundation innovation in Elderly care services

Bengaluru: In a unique social employment initiative, G.G. Kulkarni and his organisation are working to bridge the growing demand for trained elder-care personnel with the need for meaningful employment opportunities for unemployed youth.

The initiative, supported by Doctors for Seva Arogya Foundation, Bengaluru, as a channel partner, is mobilising young men and women for a specialised Home Health Assistant (HHA) training and employment programme offered by the Divine Grace Institute of Health Sciences.

The programme currently has an immediate requirement for more than 1,000 personnel, with demand expanding rapidly across Bengaluru and Kerala.

Free Training with Employment Opportunity

Under the initiative, selected candidates will receive three months of comprehensive HHA training free of cost, followed by job placement opportunities as Senior Citizen Companions.

The programme is designed to create a practical pathway from training to employment, particularly for youth who may not have higher educational qualifications but possess the personal qualities required for elder-care services.

According to the recruitment requirements, candidates should be between 25 and 40 years of age and have a minimum educational background of 10th standard. Both candidates who have passed and those who have not passed the 10th standard examination are eligible.

Compassion and Emotional Maturity at the Core

The programme places strong emphasis on qualities beyond academic qualifications. Candidates are expected to demonstrate emotional maturity, enthusiasm, empathy, sympathy, patience and compassion towards elderly people.

This focus reflects the distinctive nature of senior-care work, where companionship and emotional support can be as important as assistance with routine activities.

Addressing Two Emerging Challenges

The initiative seeks to address two important challenges simultaneously—youth unemployment and the growing demand for elder-care services.

With India’s ageing population creating an increasing need for trained personnel who can provide companionship and home-based support to senior citizens, the programme provides an opportunity to develop a dedicated workforce while creating employment for young people.

The involvement of Doctors for Seva Arogya Foundation, Bengaluru, as a channel partner is expected to strengthen candidate mobilisation and outreach.

GG Kulkarni , National Vice President, CNRI Karnataka, is also supporting the mobilisation of suitable candidates for the programme and has called upon recruitment and community partners to accelerate the identification of eligible unemployed youth.

With over 1,000 personnel required immediately and the demand continuing to expand across Bengaluru and Kerala, the initiative represents a significant employment-linked skill development opportunity while contributing to the creation of a more organised elder-care workforce.

The organisers are encouraging eligible young men and women to come forward and explore the training and employment opportunity.
